Chen Fa-ke

The Unaltered Origin

Chen Fa-ke arrived in Beijing in 1928, bringing with him a system of such profound physical depth that it redefined the martial landscape of the capital. Despite his peerless skill, his philosophy remained anchored in a singular, humble devotion to his ancestors.

“I only teach what my father taught me.”

The Myth of the ‘New Frame’ There is a common modern narrative that Chen Fa-ke “evolved” the art into a “New Frame” (Xin Jia) later in life. We believe this is a historical fabrication, popularized by his second son to distinguish his own teachings. Chen Fa-ke did not innovate; he transmitted. The complexity seen in his later years was not a new creation, but the full unfolding of the original mechanics—the “circles within circles” that had always been there, waiting for a student with the dedication of Hong Junsheng to decode them.
